Welcome!
Welcome to the LPA District One Website! Little People of America (LPA) is a nonprofit organization that provides support and information to people of short stature and their families. The organization was created in 1957 by Billy Barty and friends. The National Organization is divided into regional districts and local chapters. District One covers the local LPA chapters in the Northeast part of the U.S. which includes Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Our district consists of families, friends, and professionals who are linked through experiences with short statured individuals.
LPA is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people of dwarfism throughout their lives while celebrating with great pride Little People's contribution to social diversity. LPA strives to bring solutions and global awareness to the prominent issues affecting individuals of short stature and their families.

"Society has tended to look at dwarfism as a disease, when it should be viewed as an example of diversity. We will address whatever medical problems come up, but these are not children who are broken and need to be cured. They have the same needs and capacities as every other child. They just happen to be short.” Dr. Michael Goldberg
